St. Paddy’s Day is all about the drinks and greener is better. A delightfully cold, sweet and minty shamrock shake will not only wow your guests on this March holiday, but it’ll also keep you from getting pinched.
I’ve got the luck of the Irish, my dear leprechauns, because I was lucky enough to find a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow a few years back . . . in the form of this St. Patrick’s Day drink recipe. You’ve probably had (or even made) green drink recipes using lime sherbet ice cream and ginger ale. This is not that recipe. Why? Because I HATE lime sherbet ice cream. No thank you. I do like mint, however, and it is green too. Combine that with vanilla ice cream and half and half and you’ve got one super delicious Irish minty milkshake. Oh, and you can sneak some Irish whiskey in there and it’s still superbly yummy.
1 pint Vanilla Ice Cream
1/2 cup Half and Half or Irish Whiskey
5 drops Mint Extract
4 drops Green Food Coloring
Whipped Cream (optional)
Combine all ingredients (except for the whipped cream) in a blender and puree for up to 1 minute. Top with whipped cream. You’ll be the Queen in Green at your St. Paddy’s celebration.
Hubs and I do Saint Paddy’s the right way. We celebrate all day long, starting with the Dallas St. Patrick’s Parade and ending with beer tasting and house party hopping in lower Greenville, one of our favorite neighborhoods. How do you celebrate?
Have a fun & safe St. Patrick’s Day, y’all. Get your shamrock shake on!
