Follow the rainbow to a land far away and take a look at Annabelle’s third birthday party. I had more unicorn party ideas than I had time but I think that everything turned out well and she seemed to be super happy with how her party looked.
She had been asking for a ‘Jesus loves me party’ for months but I couldn’t quite figure out how I was going to carry out that theme. Luckily, I asked her if she had another theme in mind and she immediately said, “UNICORNS, Mama, unicorns!”
Unicorn Party Ideas
Here’s a peek into our unicorn birthday party.
I love party invitations that have a little something extra so these were created with that in mind. The unicorn is 3D and cute to boot. You can easily make this with a cutting machine. I use a Silhouette Cameo.
Let’s talk about this cake. I took a few designs along with me to Market Street, a fabulous grocery store in North Texas, and we came up with a hybrid design. I couldn’t be happier with how the cake turned out. It tasted even better than it looked. Best cake of my life!
I had an idea to make a rainbow cake for party guests out of cupcakes. It really wow’d us all. Another Market Street creation, y’all.
I just so happened upon colorful assortments of roses while I was out grocery shopping for the party and they were pretty cheap. I ended up buying 4 dozen and I had arrangements of these roses on every available surface during the unicorn party.
It’s easy to go completely nuts with unicorn party ideas so I tried to keep things simple. I used a banner from Annabelle’s 1st birthday cake smash as a centerpiece on the table. I couldn’t find a place to hang it that looked right so I attached it to two flower vases and made it apart of the table decor.
I knew that keeping the unicorn horn party hats on a bunch of toddlers was probably not going to work. I had them at the party but I also had these edible unicorns (lollipops) as well.
I made some unicorn cheesecake dip which did not get photographed and it was yummy but everyone really loved the unicorn popcorn. It’s a specialty that my mom always makes for parties.
I also had cotton candy in individual containers for guests and jars of jelly beans sitting around just about everywhere. The jelly beans had a sign that read “Rainbow Seeds”. I plan on posting these signs as free printables on the blog next week so stay tuned.
Also on the tables at the unicorn party were wishing wands and rainbow plates and napkins. I mentioned that it is easy to go crazy with unicorn party ideas but rainbows are just as bad. I wanted rainbow everything. I just about died when I found this rainbow tablecloth.
Balloons are always a must for me at any party and boy did we have us some balloons!
We gave Annabelle a toy unicorn horse as a birthday present. It doubled as a unicorn party prop and the kids loved riding it around!
Leave it to my child to lick the back of her cake! She gets her picture taken so much (#bloggerlife) that she really likes to goof around when the camera comes out. I absolutely adore this photo!
I was so super busy being a party host so I didn’t get many photos of the outdoor decorations or activities. I should have designated someone to take photos. I did get this shot of our unicorn pool filled with balls. We also had a princess bounce house and a few other outdoor activities for the kids.
Every party just has to end with a piñata, in my humble opinion. This unicorn piñata was cute and very durable. He lasted a long time!
I served unicorn punch with rainbow colored star ice cubes. Guests left the party with a box of unicorn popcorn and the kids took home a bag of unicorn goodies. I will be sharing the goody bags and their contents soon!
