Who loves pumpkin more, you or me? Let’s see, I’m first in line at Starbucks every September when the pumpkin spice latte becomes available again. I even make pumpkin desserts all year long, including this pumpkin mug cake recipe I’m sharing with you today. I love pumpkin that much. It’s my thing. If it’s your thing too, you’re going to love me for what you’re about to taste.
Pumpkin Mug Cake Recipe – Bake in the Microwave
Despite my obsession, I’m having to feed this pumpkin addiction of mine a little differently now that I have joined Club Mamahood. I simply don’t have as many hours to devote to baking up pumpkin deliciousness in my kitchen these days. Can you relate? So that’s why I created this pumpkin mug cake recipe. All you need is a microwave and a few pantry staples to make some pumpkin magic happen.
Treats like this make like worth living. Try it and you will see what I mean.
Pumpkin Mug Cake

Do you love pumpkin desserts but lack the time to bake them? If you’ve got 1 minute and a microwave handy, you can bake this delicious pumpkin mug cake.
- CAKE BATTER:
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp pumpkin puree
- 1/4 cup All Purpose flour
- 1/8 tsp baking powder
- pinch of salt
- pinch of nutmeg
- pinch of ground cloves
- TOPPING:
- 1 Tbsp butter
- 2 Tbsp flour
- 1 Tbsp brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- Heat up 1 tablespoon of butter in a mug for a few seconds to soften it (not melt it).
- Add in the remaining cake batter ingredients and stir until smooth.
- In a small bowl combine all of the ingredients for the topping.
- Pinch the butter and mix everything together with your fingers.
- When the batter starts to get lumpy, simply pour it on top of the cake batter.
- Cook the cake in the microwave for about a minute and half but keep a close eye on it.
- Top with whipped cream and a caramel drizzle if desired.
- Preparation time: 15 minutes
- Cook time: 1 minute
Oh that’s so festive and it looks delicious!
