We recently moved to the burbs from an urban Dallas dwelling and I have to admit that life “up north” has been pretty amazing. Every restaurant, shop, park, and family friendly attraction is within a few miles and guess what, there’s ample parking!
One of our favorite perks about suburbia is living near Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco. We are a baseball-loving family but more importantly, we are true Texas Rangers fans. We enjoy “catching” a Frisco RoughRiders minor league baseball game as a family whenever we can.
My husband is into statistics and keeping up with the players, I like to cheer on the team and people watch, and our daughter probably has the best time of all. I love that there are so many fun things for kids to do at Frisco RoughRiders baseball games! Here are a few of our favorites.
Frisco RoughRiders Kids Activities
1. Ice Cream
You will find an array of excellent food venders at Dr. Pepper Ballpark but one that truly stands out is the Mayfield Creamery Corner Ice Cream Parlor. Located behind section 121, Mayfield Creamery offers 8 varieties of ice cream including Smokey Mountain Fudge and Signature Vanilla. At the parlor, kids can enjoy the official ice cream of the Frisco RoughRiders from rocking chairs while they watch the game.
When the RoughRiders are away, Mayfield Creamery ice cream can be purchased at Tom Thumb, Albertsons, Market Street, United, and Winco stores in the Dallas area. July is National Ice Cream Month so now is the perfect time for an ice cream party!
Dr. Pepper Ballpark has a pool zone in the outfield with a lazy river (400 ft.) and an Olympic sized swimming pool! You can float the river from home plate to the center field wall. It’s the ultimate kid’s attraction and the most unique fan experience in Dallas! Purchase Lazy River Pool Party tickets in advance.
When kids get restless during the game, they can get their energy out at The Riders Playground! This playground features a 3-story play tower and bounce houses for ages 5-12 and a smaller playground for ages 2-5. Open from 5:30PM until the 7th inning, we usually make multiple trips to the playground for some mid-game fun. Our daughter loves this play area!
Kids can get a free ticket to a game, a t-shirt, and other rewards when the join the Riders Kids Club. Attending a Frisco RoughRiders game won’t soon be forgotten by anyone in your family, especially the little ones so take ‘em out to the ball game!
