I’ve always thought that burlap wreaths are stunning.
There’s something very pleasant about burlap. It’s classic yet stylish and it always looks good, no matter how you decorate with it. When I set out to learn how to make a burlap wreath, I was prepared for it to be pretty difficult. Boy was I wrong! It is easy. It’s time-consuming but crazy easy.
There are a few ways to go about making a burlap wreath but I decided to go with what I call the “thread, loop, and scrunch” method on this particular project for St. Patrick’s Day.
St. Patrick’s Day Burlap Wreath Tutorial
-12 Inch Metal Wreath Form
-2 Yards of Burlap
-Scissors
-Wide Decorative Ribbon
-Embellishments
-Tape Measure or Ruler (Optional)
Cut the burlap into 4 inch strips. Use the longer end of your material.
Now you are going to want to begin by threading and looping the burlap through each rim in the wire form.
Thread the burlap in and out while going back and forth. Tuck in the ends and overlap them and try to make your loops the same size.
Scrunch the loops together tightly to create fullness. Keep doing this as you work your way around the entire form.
Remember to thread, loop, & scrunch!
Fluff out smaller loops and rearrange the burlap to conceal the sight of any areas where the metal frame is peaking out.
Clip the lose stray strands of burlap if you prefer a polished look to your wreath.
Cut a foot of wide decorative ribbon to hang the wreath.
Oh hello kitty girl! Always into everything, especially crafts.
Hang it in a shaded place outdoors.
Or you can always hang it indoors.
